We are excited to have Nicole Gonzalez joining us this summer as our Faith Formation Intern. Throughout the summer, she will be spending time with our youth and families. Nicole arrived this week and will be with us through the end of July. Below are a few words of introduction from her:
Hello! My name is Nicole Gonzalez. This May I will be graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) where I spent the last four years studying Mathematics. I was also very involved in the Lutheran Campus Ministry at UNC during my time there, which provided me with a community that I would not be the same without! My leadership in this group, in addition to working at summer camp, helped me realize how passionate I am about faith formation and kids! A few of my other favorite things include Harry Potter, coffee, reading, and music. I am looking forward to spending the summer discerning my own call to ministry with your congregation! I can’t wait to meet you soon!
Pastor Adam Buff will begin his work with us on January 25th. But before he arrives, he and Jennifer Potter will be pledging themselves to each other in marriage on January 2nd. Let us pray for them as they celebrate Christmas and their joyous day with family and friends.
On February 6th, Pastor Adam will be ordained at his home congregation in Raleigh, NC, just in time to leap right into Lent! We are grateful to God for our new partner in ministry here at Prince of Peace.
Once again we thank Terri Carmody, Randy Holm, Caroline Iusi, Jill Lonas, Bill Silberman and Margo Walbolt who served as the Call Committee and are even now organizing opportunities to meet Pastor Adam when he arrives. Keep an eye out for announcements about meetings in friends’ homes in January and February, where we may meet and talk with Pastor Adam.
After much deliberation and prayer, the Call Committee and the Congregation Council have made Adam Buff our primary candidate to serve as Pastor for Faith Formation. Adam will be here to introduce himself and to meet us all on Wednesday, November 4th.
Adam is currently finishing his final semester at Lutheran Theological Seminary Gettysburg. He hails from Raleigh, North Carolina, graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he also earned a graduate degree in education. Adam has served in a faith formation position with a congregation prior to attending seminary.
On the 4th we will learn much more about Adam in his own words at 7PM in the sanctuary. Following that time we will have a chance to speak with him in the Parish Hall during a reception. Please join us as we take time to meet our new co-worker in Christ.
