Largo Holiday Stroll 2017: Live Nativity & Bethlehem Marketplace

December 2nd, 6:00pm-9:30pm

Each year, thousands come to the Largo Holiday Stroll to see over one million beautiful Christmas Lights, numerous Christmas displays, and various activities throughout the park. Prince of Peace will tell the story of Christ’s birth through our Live Nativity Display and our Bethlehem marketplace.

Guests will enter the “ancient city of Bethlehem” at the time of the census, explore the busy marketplace, visit with the shopkeepers and talk to the townspeople. Experience the Christmas story told through a live nativity scene depicting Mary, Joseph and the Christ child, along with angels, shepherds, and wise men!

Meet us at: Largo Central Park | 101 Central Park Drive | Largo, FL 33771

It takes many hands to make this event a success – a full volunteer calendar will be forthcoming – sign up if you’d like to help!

Celebrate Epiphany in January 2017

The Epiphany of our Lord is a festival of the New Year that always falls on January 6. An epiphany is a revelation, and THE Epiphany is the Church day that marks the revelation of our Lord to the magi. A star guides the wise men from far away through the questioning grasp of Herod and to the child who was born king. Experience the music and reflect on this exciting night of worship!

Celebrate Epiphany – Festival Music, Candlelight Worship & Carols of the Season

Prince of Peace welcomes all to join us for a festive night, commemorating the visit of the wise men with readings, tableau, and choir with Hammered dulcimer & double bass. A Wassail Party and reception in the Parish Hall follows this exciting night of worship.

For years Prince of Peace has celebrated this ancient day of the Church by drawing together the themes of Advent and Christmas. We call it FEAST OF LIGHTS! We tell the whole story from prophesies to shepherds, angels and the holy family, until the arrival of the long-traveled magi.

With the special music of a hammered dulcimer and double bass, our choir and costumed friends, we will mark this blessed beginning of a new year with the Epiphany. And we will pray for eyes to see how the Lord reveals his way for us today.

Invite and bring friends and come for this night’s worship and joyous reception following!

Christmas Angel Tree – Sponsor a Child!

AngelTreeHelp a child have a wonderful Christmas!

Prince of Peace is partnering with Lutheran Services of Florida and Eckerd Community Alternatives to help provide a memorable Christmas to hundreds of Children in the Head Start Program and the Foster Care Program.

Our Angel Tree will go up in the corner of the Narthex prior to our Thanksgiving Eve Worship. Each Angel on our tree will feature information about a child and one of their gift wishes. With ages ranging from infancy to teens, you can select an Angel then return unwrapped gifts with the original Angel attached to be placed under the tree.

Not much of a shopper, but still want to contribute? Gift cards are graciously accepted also. Imagine the joy that even the smallest gift might bring to one of the children! May you always be inspired through God’s peace and love. Thank you! Questions? Contact Angie: angiepryor@rocketmail.com | 727.768.9961

“Baby Shower” for Baby Jesus!

baby-jesus-bluebirdCalling All Elementary School Youth, November 13th

You are invited to a very special baby shower at PoP! It isn’t your average baby shower either…it is extra special because it is for Baby Jesus! Please plan to join us on November 13, immediately following 11am worship. We will have a fun lunch filled with mini/baby foods like mini corn dogs, baby carrots and mini cupcakes! We will make a manger out of Popsicle sticks and create an adorable Baby Jesus, and we’ll also read the story of Jesus’ birth. Enjoy classic baby shower games including the one where you can’t say the word “baby!”

We hope that you will come and ask that you bring an unwrapped baby item. We will wrap these gifts all fancy and donate them to Kimberly Home. Invite a friend or a neighbor! Please RSVP to Amy Helland at 727-515-8925 or amyhelland@yahoo.com or to Angie Pryor at 727-768-9961 or angiepryor@rocketmail.com

WHAT ABOUT 2016?

What plans lie ahead? Graduations? Weddings? Reunions? A trip, maybe? Could be a long delayed surgery or a re-start on some treatments.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing or is being done to you, the Lord goes with you. Scripture brims with passages testifying to the presence of the Lord, granting peace, courage, joy – “even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me fast.”  ~ Psalm 139

As God’s own in this place, we enter 2016 together with all of the anticipation and trepidation that we as individuals may have. What a blessing to know that God has gathered us together and equipped us as disciples in all our following and serving.  Let us pray as we gather in Sunday worship; let us pray in our small groups, from choir, to Mothers at Prayer, Gardening Angels and so many more; and let us pray when we are apart from one another for the guidance of the Lord in every effort – may all that we do bring honor to God.
