The Transfiguration of our Lord is one of those odd days of our Church Year and calendar, bringing us one of the versions of this event that appears in 3 of the gospels. Here our Lord, before three of his disciples on a mountaintop, begins to glow, his clothes as white as no fuller could bleach them. He is joined by Moses and Elijah. What a revelation, an epiphany!
This day always comes as the last Sunday before we turn to Ash Wednesday and Lent. From the bright light of a star in the dark of night leading magi to the Christ Child to the nearly blinding light of that grown Child before his disciples, we witness epiphanies of who this Holy One is for us and for all the world. Come, let us worship on this festive day!
